Atopic dermatitis affects more and more dogs

Recommendations from Nathalie Bégou Bandecchi, a dog breeder who has experienced, and resolved, itchy atopic dermatitis.

She offers some interesting alternative and natural solutions. Here's what she wrote to tell us about her experience using BioCare water-soluble neem oil.

First of all, I would stop using Apoquel, Cytopoint and any cortisone-based treatment. Although they calm the itching occasionally, they treat neither the origin nor the consequences of the problem.

  1. If you can, replace kibbles with a homemade diet : hypoallergenic meat (lamb/turkey/fish, venison), a variety of vegetables, rice and industrial CMV (vitamin and mineral supplement). A lot of dermatitis is due to diet, and mono animal protein helps limit intolerances.
  2. Apply BioCare pure on inflammatory plaques. This product is the most powerful anti-fungal, anti-parasite and anti-mite product I know of.
Take a few ml in a cotton net and, like an ointment, apply directly to wounds and patches.
  3. If it scratches all over his body, spray BioCare diluted. Mix 50 ml of BioCare in 1 liter of water and spray on animals and their environment. Although it has a distinctive scent, it is highly effective and soothing.
  4. Use a collar to prevent itchy, acidic licking, which aggravates dermatitis.
  5. Avoid ALL treats, even natural ones.
  6. Strengthen the weakened immune system, especially if it has had cortisone, Apoquel, etc. I used spirulina ampoules as pure as possible for 3 months (expensive but effective).
  7. Avoid baths that irritate more than they soothe, or use coconut oil, such as NatureCoco from Nature Neem.
  8. Wait 10 to 15 days for the hair to grow back before removing the collar.
  9. Use neem oil daily as an antiparasitic, especially if the dermatitis is parasitic in origin, which is becoming increasingly common.

This protocol is based on my experience and does not replace veterinary advice.
